2022 Wraps Covers with Awards

ARLINGTON, Virginia Coverings, North America’s premier international tile and stone exhibition and conference, took place last week, April 5-8, 2022, at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. Several prizes were awarded at the event, including those for the Rock Stars program, as well as the Coverings Installation & Design Awards and Best Booth presentations.

The Rock Stars program recognizes emerging members of the tile and stone industry who are constantly innovating as harbingers of success. The winners represent the industry’s talented and resourceful young professionals who are setting new standards of excellence and performance, note show organizers.

A committee of longtime tile and stone industry leaders evaluated nominations to select this year’s 13 inductees for Coverings Rock Star status. The 2022 Rock Stars represent many industry segments and include the following winners:

The 2022 award winners were honored at Coverings on April 5 at the Awards Ceremony and Networking Reception. Winner recognition also includes Coverings press content, a year-long professional feature on the Coverings website, social media posts and the Coverings blog.

During the awards ceremony, the recipients of the Coverings Installation & Design (CID) awards, given to 15 tile and stone projects that stand out for their creativity, ingenuity and technical achievements, were also honored. The winning projects were exhibited in the central hall of the Palais des Congrès during the show. The annual CID Awards program offers designers, architects, builders, installers and others in the tile and stone industry the opportunity to demonstrate their creative design projects and superior installation expertise.

This year’s winners were recognized and celebrated for their achievements in the design and installation of tile and stone for residential and commercial projects. The winning projects featured distinctive tile and stone applications, involving tile and stone execution, original use of materials, and overall design and purpose.

The Best Booth Awards, a program that recognizes exceptional exhibitor booths based on design, creativity, product presentation, use of space and overall presentation, was also presented during the salon. A panel of tile and stone industry judges selected four booths to award the prizes.

The booth featured various vignettes showcasing different uses for the tile, including residential and hospitality applications, such as a luxury spa, retail store, casual bedroom, ensuite bathroom, and two outdoor settings. Landmark’s wide range of displays included collections of limestone-look, wood-look and terrazzo-look porcelain tiles. Two exterior sets allowed show attendees to see and feel a wide range of exterior porcelain tile pavers. A winning feature of the stand was a solution-based view of the potential for selecting and specifying different tile styles to achieve a creative and cohesive design, show organizers noted.

Florim was rewarded Better immersive experience for the new space exhibition concept, with an open and spacious space inspired by the company’s showrooms in Italy. The exhibit experience for attendees consisted of seeing and touching many colorful porcelain tile options and large format porcelain slabs that were installed along the curved walls surrounding the space. A large digital screen centered in the cabin continued the experience with a virtual tile design application simulation, enabling an interactive experience called the Florim Visualizer. Florim also highlighted its ventilated facade outside the stand, which is an exterior cladding system for buildings that combines aesthetics, functionality, reduced maintenance and energy efficiency.

the Best fusion of art and craft the prize for the stand went to the Peronda Group. The exhibition space has been arranged to include alcoves displaying three different brands. Peronda Group’s Peronda brand display showcased classic porcelain styles with stone, concrete and wood looks. The Harmony branded area of ​​the stand offered a cutting-edge selection of tile shapes and color palettes in collaboration with top designers and a trend-driven approach to tile applications. The Museum brand stood out for its timeless charm with large format porcelain with a marble look.

ABK won the The best fashion meets function award for its avant-garde large-scale calibrated porcelain slabs as well as its floor and wall tiles for indoor and outdoor spaces. The exhibition’s products and displays are inspired by the latest trends in the world of interior design and graphic design. ABK’s fashionable Versace Ceramics collection was a spectacular area at one end of the exhibit. The other side of the space included ABK’s Cooking Surface Prime technology with induction cooktops of large ceramic plates in various thicknesses, colors and styles for indoor and outdoor applications. Centering the stand, ABK’s extensive floor and wall tile collections and large coordinated modular slabs created a sense of continuity between floors and walls.
