Solid State Power Amplifier for Ground or Surface X-Band Radar Applications Introduced by Comtech PST

MELVILLE, NY- Comtech PST Corp. in Melville, NY, introduces the Model BHCDP928978-4000 solid-state power amplifier for ground and surface X-band radar applications.

The AB linear power electronic device operates over a frequency range of 9.2 to 9.7 GHz over an instantaneous bandwidth of 500 MHz and is intended to replace a traveling wave tube (TWT).

The amplifier design provides self-protection for voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR), duty cycle, pulse width, temperature, and decay in the event of a module failure. RF power supply.

A 10x increase in Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) over a TOP improves reliability and reduces maintenance costs. Comtech supports custom configurations for power levels as high as 16 kilowatts.

The radar power amplifier provides 4000 watts peak output power; power gain of 66 nominal decibels; typical 40 microsecond pulse width; typical 20 nanosecond pulse rise and fall times; Input VSWR less than 1.5 to 1; and harmonics of -60 decibels relative to the carrier (dBc).

The power electronics device operates at temperatures of 0 to 50 degrees Celsius at the base plate; works in humidity as high as 95%; meets MIL-STD-810F for resistance to the effects of shock and vibration; operates at altitudes as high as 10,000 feet; uses Ethernet RJ-45 as control interface; and uses SMA RF connectors. The unit measures 19 by 17 by 7 inches and weighs 60 pounds.
