“I want to thank everyone for helping to make this evening possible and a success, our sponsors, our community, everyone in attendance, our staff and our vendors. It seems like this event gets better every year, and I think this is our best year yet,” said Heather Young, executive director of the Salem Community Center.

The event, held each October, is the main source of funding for the centre’s youth fitness programs, such as their “Fit Kids Running” and sports programs for children, and funds the children’s fitness center on the first floor of the building. The popular event typically brings in between $12-15,000 for the year’s lineup, and this year’s event is expected to be similarly successful, having exhausted its 300-seat capacity weeks in advance with a slate of waiting for potential participants in case someone is unable to. to participate.

The event featured a meal prepared by Jalisco’s, ice cream by Heggy’s Confectionary, booths from many local businesses and organizations, a 50/50 raffle, a raffle with multiple prizes including local gift cards and designer wallets , and the main event of the evening, designer handbag bingo. This year’s event even featured a visit from Salem Police Department K-9 officers Simon and Argo.

The evening of fun was sponsored by longtime partners PNC Bank and Karen Sebo, with bingo prizes sponsored by the Classic Car Guys, Kent State University Salem, The KreATivE Ones, Morris Financial Group, Salem Radiologists, Salem Regional Medical Center, Stitle Construction, an anonymous Community Center member, and even a matching Michael Kors purse and wallet sponsored by K-9s Simon and Argo.
